We had our midwife appointment today and she says the baby is 2cm lower than before :) Which means that the baby has dropped into the pelvis a little more. Grammy Hutchins has predicted the baby will be born this Thursday! I'm looking forward to proving her right! :)
We are still working on names and hope to have some picked out tonight.
I've been getting as much rest as possible these days and making sure to spend some time with my girlfriends too. Aurelio and I ordered a new camera - the Nikon D90, we were really hoping it would arrive today - but it looks like it won't be here until tomorrow. It's going to take some time for us to really learn how to use it properly and we're hoping to know the basics before baby reis arrives, so we can get some really good pics of him/her. I can't wait to find out the gender! It's really started to drive me nuts! I'm SO excited to meet Baby Reis!!
There's really been nothing else on my mind lately. Just want am I going to eat this hour and when is this baby going to decide to come out and play. I'll update y'all as soon as anything exciting happens!! :)
Seems like everyone is sick these days, I guess it's just that time of year. I've been spending a lot of time at home these days. Partly because everyone seems to be sick and I don't want to chance catching anything, and part because I've been SO exhausted I haven't really been up to doing anything...not even my normal cleaning around the house, and forget dinner.
Baby Reis kicks all the time, and I enjoy knowing that he/she is doing well. Though I can tell Baby Reis is gaining a lot of weight by how much bigger my belly has gotten. I really couldn't have ever imagined I'd get this big and everyday I look in the mirror and say "This belly just couldn't possibly get any bigger", but it seems everyday it does.
Yesterday I had to go into the eye specialist again to get my Chalazion drained AGAIN. The worst part is when they stick the needle into my eyelid to numb it...and it's SO hard to sit still in such an uncomfortable position with baby reis ricking all over the place. My eye was really swollen and sore, but this evening it's starting to feel better. I hope this time the "surgery" worked and I won't have to have it done again...just way too painful...though after giving birth I'm sure my idea of pain will change ;)
I took a nice 2.5hr bath today. My tailbone and back have been so sore lately, it felt really nice to take a warm bath. Though, I'm pretty sure it just made me more tired.
Aurelio and I are looking into getting a new camera; the pathetic digital ones we have right now are just not going to cut it with a new baby. We want to make sure to get good pictures of the birth and the first few days of life with baby reis. Hopefully Aurelio can decide which one he wants and order it so that we receive it BEFORE baby reis decides to come out and play.
I'm having some girlfriends over on Tuesday to enjoy the pool and some snacks. I'm really looking forward to seeing them since they've all been sick and out of circulation this past week. It's great to have a group of moms that have young babies; they've already given me some really helpful advice and they are so supportive.
I've been working hard on a cross-stitch pattern for the nursery; a baby announcement. It's coming along but I know it won't be done in the next two weeks. I've already made a bunch of bonnets for when the baby arrives and I keep going back and forth on which outfit I want to be the baby's first. I wish I could have crocheted one, but I tried and it was a little too advanced for me...even the booties gave me too much trouble. They looked like little elf shoes!
Lily and Daisy have started acting weird, they are really needy and always want to lay on my belly or next to it. They follow me around the house like lost little puppies and get all depressed if I leave them in their kennels too long. I really think they can sense baby is on the way soon.
I have mixed emotions about the upcoming birth. I'm really excited to meet baby reis and see what he/she looks like; but I'm also thinking I'm going to miss being pregnant a little. Everyone goes out of their way to help you and not having to pack a diaper bag every time I leave the house is pretty nice. I'm trying to enjoy the pregnancy as much as I can; which has been hard at times with all the aches and pains, heartburn, and the 5 months of throwing up in the beginning. But there's nothing quite like feeling the baby beat you up from the inside out :).
Our due date is June 13th, and hopefully we won't be more than a few days late. I certainly don't have anymore room in my belly for baby to gain weight! :)
We're still a couple weeks away from our due date, but the belly button has popped...so I'm hoping I'll go early...I'm SO ready to meet baby reis...it's all I think about!
Baby Reis has been very active and kicks just about all day long it seems. We're going to have a soccer player! :) The nursery is all set up and I keep re-organizing stuff daily.
I'm making sure to spend as much time as I can with my girlfriends, anything to get my mind off baby, belly, and all the aches and pains associated with it.
Aurelio has taken over his bosses responsibilities at work for the next two weeks (as he is out on paternity leave right now)...so it's best that Baby Reis waits to come until the due date anyway.
I read up on his/her zodiac sign and it seems we've got quite a little bugger on our hands. "Eager to get going (this baby probably kicked up a storm in the womb!), the Gemini baby is likely to be talking early and making a mark from day one. Curious and quite the explorer, this tot is one who needs lots of stimuli in order to be happy, as they are easily bored. Since those communication skills are top-notch, the smart thing to do with this baby is bring them into a play group as soon as possible. At home, siblings could easily fill this function, as someone must! It's never too early for the Gemini baby to interact with others, and they will also learn their lessons early on. The Gemini tot is definitely not clingy. Quite the contrary, this is one baby who is happy to march to their own drummer, gallivanting about and being amused in the process. Surprisingly, when this baby is not engaged (chatting or playing with others), there could be a certain emotional detachment. For that reason, it's best to keep things uncomplicated and easy for them to understand, the better to maintain harmony. To sum up, the Gemini baby is the Great Communicator of the play group, has a short attention span (so keep 'em busy!), and is one clever and creative tot."
Aurelio and I couldn't decide on a place to go for the weekend, on our "BabyMoon"...we had plenty of ideas, just couldn't commit to any of them. We ended up staying close to home, but that doesn't mean we didn't take advantage :). We went to a movie, Star Trek (Obviously his choice), then to the spa (my choice ;) ) where we got a couples massage - SO nice! We left feeling like we had new bodies! We went to dinner at the Melting Pot and were sat at the best table! It was nice and secluded in the corner and we were able to sit nice and close to one another - where we ate way too much...
Sunday we went to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. I wore sneakers this time; which made it much more enjoyable...though the bathroom situation there was horrific. After the festival we decided to go to Red Robin (A restaurant AR went to as a kid)...though I'd forgotten my change of clothes...so we stopped by Target and Aurelio went in to find me an outfit...to my surprise he actually did really well! He got me a pink and white shirt, black skirt and black flip flops! I was very impressed...and looked pretty cute as we headed off to dinner :).
This week has been full of activities; I had my "home visit" with our midwife on Monday where we went over a lot of the birthing information and made sure I had all the items I needed for the birth; I had to make another trip to the eye doctor because it was clear they hadn't fully drained my eyelid the first time, luckily they just gave me some eye drops and told me to use some warm compresses for the next week to try and get it to go away without having to open it up again.
I went to the Dallas Arboretum with some girlfriends on Wednesday...here are some pics :)
And today I made some yummy cookies for Aurelio and dropped them off at his work...to find that he is looking pretty hot today! I commented on his outfit and asked him why he was all of a sudden dressing so nice...apparently he's all out his normal polos....oooopppppssssss! I totally forgot to do laundry this week!! I can't believe how sweet he was about it...didn't say a word! Just started wearing the clothes that were left...lol. Now I know how to get him to wear a nice dress shirt ;). Laundry is in progress.... ;)

This morning I had brunch with a group of wonderful women in Wylie TX. Only thing missing in this photo is Baby Reis!
I had an appointment with an eye specialist this afternoon; I've had a bump on my top eyelid that has been there for about a month...and only growing...so I thought I'd better get it looked at. Knowing they couldn't do anything serious about it until the baby was born I was calm as a cucumber - then the doctor explained that they could cut open my eyelid with no harm to the baby. UGH. The numbing was SO painful; but the procedure went along quickly and I was out of there within 30 minutes. Aurelio came rushing over from work to be there for me - since I'm such a baby when it comes to needles...but the doctors couldn't wait and by the time he entered the room I was finished. It was still nice to have him there and know that he cared enough to leave work and rush over. It was nice to get some TLC after the procedure. He had to rush back to work though, and I was left to drive home - with one eye - in our brand new unfamiliar car....but I'm home now and all is well. The doctor said my eyelid will look back to normal in just a couple days and I can go out into public again ;).
Aurelio and I are working on planning our BabyMoon for this weekend and hope to have some great stories to tell you about our trip. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to pass them along to us!
The Audi TT Roadster was my dream car...Aurelio and I searched and searched to find just the perfect one. Had to be red, and between the years of 2001 and 2004 - to get the right body style. Had to have low miles and be in mint condition. After months of searching we found our little red baby in PA. This was the car we were in when I told Aurleio I was pregnant....and this weekend we said goodbye to her. I of course being all pregnant and hormonal cried like a baby in the dealership after they gave us a great offer on trading in our Audi, but Aurelio stayed strong for the both of us.
So, this weekend it really felt like we started a new chapter in our lives. It was bittersweet as I climbed into our new Outlander and our salesman Dave drove off in "my" Audi TT.
We went to a nice dinner after we left the dealership, to celebrate the new chapter we're about to embark on. We are really happy with all the features in the Outlander and Aurelio activated the Sirus radio for me, as a gift for being so "brave" and "strong"...though we both knew I was neither. I know the second Baby Reis is born, I'll be saying "what audi?" But for now, there's still a little sting. As Aurelio put it, it wasn't so much like a bandaid being removed but being stitched up after surgery. Takes time to fully heal and move on....so silly to feel that way about a car. I think it was just more than a car to us...had meaning and memories behind it...so we'll keep those and not the piece of metal itself. :)

After he mows the lawn - which is starting to look like a field of weeds...he'll join me for some fun in the sun :)

Here are some photos from our first swim in our pool!! We had a great time, even if it was a little on the chilly side. After, Aurelio made some of the most delicious burgers ever!! :)
Our weekend was nice and relaxing. The weather was pretty stormy here, so we hunkered down and spent most of the weekend inside. I beat Aurelio at another game of scrabble; worked on some cross-stitch (I'm trying to finish a baby announcement to hang in the nursery); and made it a point to sleep in.
We've had a number of swine flu cases in the area, which have prompted school closings and cancellation of some events. I'm trying to stay away from public places as much as possible, since we have a lot of Mexicans here and I'm worried about catching a flu while pregnant. You never know if the person your standing next to just got back from Mexico...
As you can see, Aurelio played photographer this weekend. This is one of the pictures he took and edited in Photoshop. I think he did a great job! We're going to try and do some more this weekend so we have some nice momentous. Plus, I'd like to put some in the baby book we are making for our little one. I think he's really looking forward to taking photos of the baby...as I know I am. We are also going to try and get some good pictures during the birth - but nothing too graphic! :)
Hopefully the rainy weather will be gone soon and we can utilize our pool. Aurelio has been working diligently to make sure all the chemical levels are perfect so baby and I can take a nice swim.
